The students are working hard on their Geography Projects. To give them time to complete this project, I've pushed the due dates on the Picture Book project back for now. We will return to the Picture Book Project in about two weeks, after we complete Geography presentations.
Parent conferences are scheduled for March 13 to 18. A few have reported that the ParentSquare link I sent last time did not work for them. If you had trouble accessing the Parent Conferences on ParentSquare, please go to the ParentSquare home page <www.parentsquare.com>, be sure you are logged in, and then try to find the conference signup form from there. If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll sign you up the good old fashioned way.
The students are making great progress on their picture books. We have now reached the state where most are planning how this book will look. This is a fun, but also fairly complex stage. Done well, this stage will ensure that the book is well-crafted and beautiful.
To be sure everyone has time to focus on all the details, I've extended the deadline to March 16.
On Saturday, March 18 (Note the date change!), we have a unique opportunity to visit Tom's shop and learn the tips and tricks for making his winning boat design. A perfectly usable boat can be built for as little as $50, or for about $400 using high quality marine grade materials. We will gather at Tom's shop in Forestville at 10:00 AM, and expect to be finished around 3:00 PM. Tom is a master furniture maker, boat builder, and multiple winner of the Wooden Boat Challenge.
If you registered a team for the Wooden Boat Challenge, the event staff need the t-shirt sizes for all team members. Please send t-shirt size information to Nell at <firstname.lastname@example.org> .
Our class is now officially fielding two intrepid teams. I have confirmation that there are sponsorships available for two more youth teams, so if you were hoping to build a team, register fast!
